Crashes Close Routes 1 & 9 In Central Jersey

Three separate crashes closed parts of Route 1 and Route 9 in Middlesex County, authorities said.

The first crash involved an overturned dump truck and occurred at about 9:35 a.m. Monday, April 3, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The crash occurred on Route 9 southbound near Route 656/Smith Street in Woodbridge, the state DOT said. The entrance ramp and a right lane of four lanes were closed, nj511.org reported.

The second crash occurred at about 11:35 a.m. on the Route 1 northbound ramp onto College Road West in Plainsboro, police said. The ramp was reopened by 1:30 p.m., Plainsboro police said.

There was a third major crash with injuries that closed Route 1 in Plainsboro near College Road West mid-afternoon Monday. That closure also lasted a couple of hours.
